A new virtual IMDA TeSA for ITE and Polytechnic (TIP) Alliance Skills-Based Hiring Handbook for the tech industry was launched by Senior Minister of State for Communications and Information, Mr. Tan Kiat How on 24 November 2023. This is a collaboration between the TIP Alliance and the Institute for Human Resource Professionals (IHRP).
The Skills-Based Hiring Handbook offers practical guidance for companies to hire, assess, and develop tech talent based on competencies rather than experience and academics.
A skills-based hiring approach addresses the widening skills gap in the fast-evolving tech industry. It opens up more opportunities for ITE and polytechnic students keen on pursuing tech careers. Employers that embrace skills-based hiring benefit from improved hiring outcomes, increased access to talent, and a boost in employee productivity.
